Explore your own state: Low-cost getaways in Georgia
Georgia is a big state with lots of natural beauty and charm. If you live in Georgia and you’re looking to get away for an affordable weekend in your Peach State or from nearby states like Alabama, Florida, South Carolina or Tennessee (we like to call this taking a statecation), then we have three different options for you.
Blue Ridge Mountains – if you love hiking, sight-seeing or taking outdoor adventures, then this could be a great little GA getaway for you. Two of the greatest outdoor exploring sights start in Georgia at the southern border of Fannin County, which lives within the beautiful Chattahoochee National Forest. The Appalachian and the Benton MacKaye Trail start at the top of Springer Mountain. If you’re an avid biker, these trails could be both a challenge and rewarding experience. On the other spectrum of outdoorsy fun, if you wait for the warmer months to make their appearance, you might find yourself wanting to book a day with a river guide and raft the Ocoee River. People from all over come to the Ocoee to canoe or kayak for affordable fun!
And if you’d rather not take a guided tour and are into setting out on your own, blueridgemountains.com provides this awesome list of self-guided tours you can plan:

We talked about mountainous and outdoor adventures in north Georgia, but that’s not all this state has to offer. On the south side of Georgia lives Tybee Island. Tybee is a great place for beach-lovers and history. When visiting Tybee, you have several affordable things to do. You can watch the waves, soak up some sunshine and put your toes in the sand on Tybee Island’s beach for free. Another option is to visit Fort Pulaski National Monument (a memorial dedicated to preserving Fort Pulaski, the site of the successful testing of a rifled cannon by the Union Army during the American Civil War in 1862).
A short distance from Tybee, there is the hopping historic Savannah district. This is where you can eat waterside on River street, or catch a boat tour! Nightlife is a huge attraction for this city, as there are haunted ghost tours, pubs and music that make the city come to life. In the day time, there’s City Market (about a 6-minute walk from River street) where you can shop ‘til you drop, take a tour by bus or by horse and buggy! Savannah Sightseeing 1 day tours are currently $29.70 a person and are super informative and fun.
If you live in the Peach State (or any of the states we operate in from coast to coast) and need a little help affording your Statecation, see if you qualify for one of our personal loans by applying today. With fair rates and flexible terms, it’s easy to fit payments into your budget. And, one of our loans is a whole lot smarter way to finance your vacation than putting some or all of it on credit cards.
