The Ultimate 28-Day Financial Fitness Routine: Day 2

Day 2 ~

Figure out your WHY and write it down – everywhere.

Besides getting educated, you also need to feel inspired. What you’ll be doing for the next 4 weeks and beyond will require commitment and motivation.

Ultimately, this is not just a 28-day plan where you let yourself slide back into your old, unhealthy money habits when you reach the end of day 28. It’s about holding onto the new healthy behaviors you will be adopting.

Your WHY is more than a goal. It’s what’s behind the measurable goal, what makes it important to you. It’s about a feeling, not a number. WHY can be hard to nail down because it is  not always tangible or objective. Fill in these blanks, then use the result to write your WHY statement down several times, in several ways.

“I want to become financially fit because (e.g. having enough for retirement; saving enough to buy a house; having 6 months of living expenses saved; etc.) will help me feel (independent and without burden; secure about my family future; resilient when unplanned expenses or emergencies come up).”

Some of our WHY statements include:

I want to become financially fit because I want to save enough money to be able to take my parents on their dream vacation.

I want to become financially fit because I want enough money to be able to go chase my dreams.

I want to become financially fit because I want to retire early and be able live an adventurous life.

Write your WHY down everywhere – on your mirror, fridge, front door, wallet, car.
